About Seth

Seth Philip Dembowitz was born on August 21, 1979, in Abington, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and graduated from Cherry Hill West High School in 1997. During high school, Seth was a member of South Jersey Region Aleph Zadik Aleph and BBYO, and served as chapter President of Marlcrest AZA #2149. Seth attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he earned a BS in Finance in 2001. During college, Seth was a member of Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity (New Jersey Alpha) and The Cap and Skull Society.  After graduating from Rutgers in 2001, Seth worked in the financial services industry in New York City, from Wall Street to Midtown.

Seth was the oldest of five children. He was always trying to make us laugh, but he never had to try to make us smile. Seth loved sports, especially following the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers, as well as the Boston Red Sox. Seth liked to drive up to the quiet countryside of Lenox, Massachusetts to spend a weekend with our family. He was happiest when he was with those closest to him.

What is 243? 243 was Seth’s “bond number” in his Rutgers University chapter of Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity. Every chapter of Phi Delta Theta has a copy of The Bond, the living document that guides each chapter. When a member is inducted into a chapter, he signs The Bond and is assigned a “bond number” based on the order in which he was inducted. Seth was the 243rd member inducted into the New Jersey Alpha chapter of Phi Delta Theta. Seth’s bond number, 243, meant a great deal to him. He used 243 often in communication and as a representation of his pride in the fraternity and in his chapter.
